There should be a sniglet

There should be a sniglet for words that sound dirty, but aren’t, like “funicular.” For example:

“She’s not much to look at, but she’s got a slammin’ funicular!”

or (for the ladies): “He’s hot and all, but he had a teency-weency funicular!”

Let me know if you know the sniglet, please.

I've been so freakin' busy

I’ve been so freakin’ busy at work that I haven’t really had time to post anything here. I’m working all day long every day on this new site. I’m evolving from a very tables-intensive design style to a CSS-based design style, so I’m having to learn a lot of new (to me, anyway) CSS tricks. Of course, the myth of standards compliant browsers means that there are still tricks to be performed. In fact, I spent over an hour today trying to figure out why a pile of correctly nested <div>s (I validated it) didn’t appear correctly MSIE5.0/Windows. Guess why? That browser doesn’t like nested <div>s, so I had to code one version for actually CSS-compliant browsers and another for allegedly CSS-compliant browsers. I did a browser-sniffing bit of WebDNA (I could do it faster than with JS) to swap out includes for the proper versions.

So, it’s stuff like that which has derailed me some lately. Nevertheless, I should have it done on time (August 1st), and then I can link it from here and from my design page. I think it’s pretty cool so far.

Feeling MUCH better

Feeling MUCH better the last few days, so I’ve been working feverishly to get caught up at work. I went into the office last night around 9:30 and worked for 3 or 4 hours. It’s pretty quiet then (even though it is a newspaper), so I got a lot done. I’m working on a new project that will launch August 1st (or therebouts) that I’m having a lot of fun with. It should be cool.

Perhaps needless to say, THIS site is still lagging behind a bit. It’ll be coming along slowly, though. Really. I promise.
