Bloggers Gain Libel Protection

Xeni Jardin reports in a Wired article that the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals has ruled that “Web loggers, website operators and e-mail list editors can’t be held responsible for libel for information they republish, extending crucial First Amendment protections to do-it-yourself online publishers.” That may give editors and reports more impetus to explore blogging and help to legitimize it in their eyes, too.
