“Replacing Perl Scripts with PHP Scripts” is a good quick article about using PHP for non-webserver-related scripting needs. I do some of this already, but the article showed me a few new things. Very useful for php developers.

Lately, I’ve been reading a lot of Young Adult (YA) sort of stuff. I’ve been re-reading the Time Quartet books by L’Engle (I’ve never read Many Waters, though, and it’s next) and I recently finished Michael Chabon’s Summerland. I’m not sure if it’s for nostalgia’s sake or just needing a break from all the very serious stuff I tend to read, but I’ve enjoyed it. It’s rekindled my interest in fiction, which was starting to wane a bit.

kudzu design

I finally launched a bare-bones website for my web consulting business, Kudzu Design. I’ve been getting enough inquiries and interest in my freelance work to justify it. The site is pretty bare now (and probably needs another ruthless edit), but I’ll be adding additional content as time permits.
