Junkbusters Anti-Telemarketing Script shows you how to stick it (legally) to telemarketers when they call you. It’s pretty entertaining. Luckily, I live in a state where we have a state-sponsored do not call list that you can sign up for that will stop most telemarketing calls, and for just $5 per year. I signed up, and I’ll go on the list as of January 2002. I can’t wait to see if it actually works.

Don’t go back to Rockville

I just watched a half-hour segment on VH1′s 80s weekend about “alternative” music in the 80s. For the most part, it was spot-on. They talked about how disaffected youth (a cliched term, but true nonetheless) took 70s punk and ran with it. I think what happened is that the “alternative” bands of the 80s took punk and made it smarter — smarter lyrics, actual hooks, less blasting away than sniping, even with the loudest, fastest bands. I played in a local disc golf mini-tournament (we have them every Sunday) this afternoon. After a month-long hiatus, I started playing again last week, and I was shooting pretty well (for me, anyway)… until today. I stunk up the whole course. I had one good throw (hit the pin on #14 — my best shot ever on that whole, which usually spanks me). Ah, well. There’s always next week.

Endicott makes really groovy modern wrapping paper. I dig all things modern, and these wrapping papers (other than the price) are great. Some of their designs would work really well on the web, as well.

The Tick premiered on Fox TV last night. It was freakin’ hilarious! I’m not a huge Tick fan, but I loved the show. Patrick Warburton was fantabulous as the Tick. And the dialogue was just brilliant: “Arthur, fate dressed you this morning, and fear is trying to take off your pants. If you let that happen, fear will just stand there laughing at your dangling unmentionables.” Priceless. I have already Season Passed it.
