With all the recent talk about the Harry Potter movie breaking the opening-weekend gross record, I though the list of Top 100 movies, Ever (Adjusted for Inflation) would be interesting. I’m pretty surprised that The Sound of Music is so high.

The Senseboard is a keyboard-less keyboard. Really! If it works, it’s awesome. If it works like a Newton (and I know — I owned two of them), it’s a nightmare for some investors.

The Chilbolton ‘Arecibo message’ Formation lays out the argument that somebody has responded to the 1974 message sent by SETI from the Arecibo dish — I want to call it the Arecibo Array, probably due to Reg Barkley (a little Voyager geekness for ya). They link to some debunking (including the official statement from SETI. Still, it’s fun to read.

In today’s editorial/column one of our local newspapers’ editors flaps on and on defending the Harry Potter milieu from its detractors on the Christian Right. Just on the surface, I completely agree with him (I’ve read all four books twice, and I can’t wait until this weekend to see the movie). BUT, he then goes on to say, “I must admit, as an evangelical Christian, I do have serious theological differences with any literal interpretation of the book. Taken literally, Potter is far from the Christian understanding of the supernatural. For one thing, the practicing of magic in the real world is a black art and not a force of good. Also, the novel suggests that when people die, they roam the earth as ghosts, which is theologically untrue.” ACK! I can’ even START. Oh wait, yes I can.
